Road Trip Essentials

This weekend I'm driving about an hour and a half north of where I live for a weekend winter camp. I'm so excited to get to see all my summer camp friends again! Unfortunately though, this means I have to pack and I absolutely hate packing. I always bring too much of one thing and not enough of another! So now I'm trying to narrow down the list and I'd thought I'd share with you guys.

Plan ahead your outfits for each day. For the amount of days you're going to be there, bring one extra outfit than that number. For example, if you're going to be gone for 5 days, bring 6 outfits.

This gives you an extra outfit in case you get rained on or some type of mishap occurs. If you're planning on going somewhere where you need to dress more formal, bring a nice blouse and skirt. Blouses can be worn with jeans as well, so you can always re-wear the shirt and have a second outfit!

Bring your everyday makeup ONLY. Not every item in your makeup bag.

Not only does this make traveling lighter, but it also saves some of your nicer makeup from being damaged from all the moving around and squishing. I'd also recommend bringing your drug store makeup when you're on road trips, because then if something breaks or if your eye shadow spills, at least you didn't just spend $40 on that for it to be dumped all over the rest of your luggage.

One or two pairs of shoes will do.

Oh man, do I have a problem with this. I have a weakness for shoes and I just want to bring all of them so I can have more options! But honestly, it's unnecessary. Just bring two pairs, one that you wear in the car, and one you can put in your bag.

Don't be that person who brings everything in their shower but the actual bathtub.

Please just buy the little travel bottles and put your shampoo and conditioner and other things into those. It's much easier on you and everyone else if you don't bring the family sized shampoo bottles you and I both know you own.

When you're going somewhere cold, layers are a must. The best part about layering is you can re-wear things that were underneath all the layers and no one will notice!

Now you don't have to pack as many outfits! Simple huh?

So here's the list of things I'm bringing to winter camp (some of it I will be wearing on the way up)

1 Heavy coat
2 Sweatshirts
2 Pairs of Jeans
2 Pairs of underwear
2 Pairs of regular socks, fuzzy socks, & knee socks
