Drugstore Beauty Haul!

Hey everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful week and everything's going your way. Since we're on the topic of beauty today, I'd like to take the opportunity to let you all know that I'm hoping to turn this blog more into a fashion and beauty blog. Of course, I will still be posting other things, but I'd really love to gear it more towards fashion and beauty. And of course, I'm a broke teenager, so all this stuff is going to be extremely affordable. Because I need affordable.

On with the haul!

So lately I have been purchasing quite a bit of beauty products to try and go out of my comfort zone. In attempt to do that, I may have gone a tad bit over board (and may or may not have had to purchase a bigger makeup bag...)

Here's some of the things I got!

First is the NYC Foudation (in the lightest shade possible because I'm like Caspar the ghost), which was (I think) $4. This is just my normal foundation, although I think I'm going to look for something with a pump next time just for easier application.

NYC Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup in 676 Ivory, $4

This is the e.l.f. face powder, again in the lightest colour they had. It's a small pallet, so I will have to purchase more soon probably, however it was only $1, so I think it made up for it.

e.l.f. Pressed Facial Powder, #1305 Ivory, $1

And here is the new concealer I bought, which is, once again, in the lightest shade possible. This was only $1.72, however, once again it is quite a short stick and I go through a lot of concealer, so I'm not sure whether or not I'll be purchasing this again, I may just pay more for a better kind next time.

NYC Coverstick With Vitamin E, 781 Light, $1.72

Next is the 2 in 1 NYC lipstick which I LOVE. I'm not very comfortable with lipsticks and this one (despite looking pretty bright) is not nearly as bold as some others. This is me going out of my comfort zone, and maybe one day I'll be able to rock bright red. This was $3.

NYC City Duel 2 in 1 Lip Color in Rock a fella, $3

I bought this before New Years because I wanted some new eyeshadow and I wanted something sparkly. I tend to drift more toward gold, bronze, and brown colours for eye shadows because I think it looks better on me. They were having a buy one get one half off sale, and I think I paid around $7.

Icing eyeshadow eye shimmer, $7

Next is mascara. I'm actually in love with this mascara, it separates my eyelashes so well. I think I paid $8 for this.

Maybelline New York the Colossal Volum' Express in K500 $8

Then there's this bronzer which absolutely gorgeous. It's quite shimmery in the pallet so I was a bit nervous it would make me look too shiny, but it doesn't at all. The bottom left colour is also really great for highlighting, I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Plus, the pallet is quite large so I'll be using it for a while. I believe I paid 3 or 4 dollars for this.

e.l.f. Golden Bronzer #3078, $4

Unfortunately (for you all anyways), this soap was handmade by a family friend, so I don't think you'll be able to purchase it. However, it smells AMAZING and if I could send everyone some I would because it's so great. I got it as a Christmas present, but I think it was 5 or 7 dollars.

Meadow Sweet Blossoms Patti's Peppermint All Natural Soap (good for shaving)

Ooh is that your bedroom Abby? Yes, yes it is. And that is liquid liner that I'm holding. This is the "half off" purchase I got from Icing. It was originally $4, but I only paid $2. I love this liner, it's great quality and doesn't slide around on my face and dries really quickly so I don't have to worry about blinking and messing it up after applying. It's also really easy to do a wing, even I'm able to do it (I suck at wings normally).

Icing Forever Liquid Little Black Liner, liquid liner, $4 ($2 with half off sale)

Next is my nail polish collection! Which all but one has been acquired since Christmas. I normally don't paint my nails ever. But I'm loving the nail polishes I have got. The Forever 21 set was a Christmas present from my grandparents, so I couldn't tell you how much it cost. The NYC sparkly nail polish was $0.99 and the NYC teal color was $0.94, and the Sinful Colors red nail polish was $1.99

NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel, 105 Starry Silver Glitter, $0.99

Love & Beauty 4-Piece Set by Forever 21

Sinful Colors Professional Ruby Ruby 369, $1.99

NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel, 153 Tudor City Teal, $0.94

New Year's Resolutions

New Year's Resolutions are not my thing normally. I think they're pointless because everyone breaks them and I am usually pretty content with myself (or maybe just too lazy to change? You decide).

This year, however, due to some health issues I won't talk about yet, I am having to make some changes and I'm not to happy about it. So here are my New Year's Resolutions:

      1. Go to sleep before midnight every night

Like actually go to sleep, not just bed lay in bed on my phone.

      2. Cut out caffeine

I was drinking tea and a Doctor Pepper every day with the occasional energy drink and it was not the best habit, so I'm cutting that out.

      3. Wake up before 9:30 every day

And yeah, once again, actually wake up and be out of bed, not wake up and lay in bed all day

      4. Eat healthier

Not necessarily cut out sweets or stop eating sugar or anything like that, but more like instead of trying to not eat chocolate, eat more fruits and vegetables, that kind of thing. Basically have a more balanced diet.

      5. Eat less fast food

I go out to eat fast food at least once a week and to go with eating healthier, I'd like to cut out a lot of fast food too.

      6. Be more positive

            Goes without saying

      7. Procrastinate less

This one is gonna be a challenge...

      8. Do more for others

I will let you know how well those are going in about a week when I probably have failed all of them! What are some of your resolutions this year?

I want clothes people wear on TV

Seriously. It's kind of a problem with me. I obsess over a show, I fall in love with pretty much all of the female casts fashion choices. And when I search for the item of clothing, I very rarely find places where you can buy the item. And if I do, they're so expensive! I end up trying to find look a likes, or even make the item myself. Or just sitting around being constantly jealous. (Mostly the latter.)

Now there are a couple shows who I would trade my entire wardrobe for their's in a heartbeat. New Girl, How I Met Your Mother, and Once Upon a Time mostly. And because I am a conservative Christian, I like to dress quite modestly. This can make it difficult to find clothes because all the skirts, dresses, shirts, and shorts are usually to short for me to be comfortable wearing and the shirts are often too thin or too low cut for me. However, in those shows, I have seen so many outfits I know I could wear. New Girl particularly is one that wears a lot of modest clothes.

The other day, one of my friends posted on Facebook this site the finds the exact match of clothing items that all your favourite characters on all your favourite shows wear. And of course I immediately went to look at all my the shows I love and it had them ALL. And when I say it has them all, I mean it has all of the best shows with the best fashion and then some. The only problem is the stuff is a bit pricey. However, most of these stores have online coupons you can use and lots of deals that can lower the cost of the outfits tremendously.

Not only that, but it tracks the outfits and shows you click on and look through and then finds similar clothing items to that style under $100 and posts them on a side bar. It's seriously the most wonderful site I've ever found.

So, without further ado, the link to my new favourite website:

http://wornontv.net/

Enjoy! Let me know in the comments below if you buy something from there or what your favourite shows are!

Weekly Recommendations

I watch a lot of movies and shows and listen to a lot of music. So I thought I'd start a series called "Weekly Recommendations" where I recommend at least one movie, show, and song/album every week for you guys to check out. It won't always be new music or movies or shows because I like to watch stuff on my computer, so this will allow you guys to watch even if you can't go to the movie theatre that week. This will be an extra post I will try to do every Tuesday or Wednesday. The things I recommend will probably be from the previous week (except music). So here's my first week of recommendations!

Movie
Still in theatres movie: Frozen
If you haven't seen this movie, seriously drop what you're doing and watch it now. The animation is incredible and the music is mind blowing. Disney has definitely out done themselves this time, there is no doubt that I will be getting this movie on DVD or downloading it on iTunes as soon as I can.
At home movie: Madea's Witness Protection Program
I recently saw the newest Madea movie in theatres with my boyfriend and I had tears streaming down my face. When I got home, I immediately headed to Netflix to watch any others they had on there as I had never watched any of the Madea movies. It is hilarious! Once again, I was crying from laughter. Definitely would suggest it if you're looking for a good comedy.

Show
New episodes airing now show: BBC's Sherlock
I fell in love with Sherlock about six months ago. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are perfect together. Unfortunately, there was a two year hiatus with this huge cliff hanger that killed everyone. After two years though, Sherlock has returned! You can find Season 1 and Season 2 of Sherlock on Netflix. You'll have to poke around on the internet to find Season 3 episode 1 and 2. Or, if you're an American, it will air on BBC America January 19 at 10 PM (eastern time). I like to stream it live from BBC One, the British station though, because I'm impatient. The last episode of the season comes on January 12th at 3:30 PM Eastern Time!
Completed Series show: Lilo and Stitch
For some reason, when I was younger I never cared for the Lilo and Stitch series. But now, I am in love with it. I've been watching it like crazy, especially when I'm wanting a night in, I like to settle down in my onesie and pop open my laptop for a little while while eating some chocolate. It will definitely make you feel nostalgic and like a little kid again.

Music
Available on iTunes music: Frozen (the complete soundtrack)
After seeing the movie, I went to go download the soundtrack as soon as possible. I listen to it every day multiple times a day, running around the house shouting out the songs. I have pretty much every song memorized. The entire album is only $7, it includes all the musical numbers in the movie, as well as the film score and credit songs, with 32 songs total.
Free on iTunes music: Reflections by MisterWives
Every Monday, iTunes puts out a new song that is free. This week it was Reflections. I always check because you never know what kind of great music you'll find, plus it's free! I have been listening to this song on repeat since I downloaded, I'm absolutely in love with Mandy Lee's voice. Go download it before the week is over!

Have anything you want me to recommend next week? Leave a comment below with suggestions of shows, movies, or songs I can listen to/watch and I may recommend them next week! Let me know if you loved any of my recommendations as well!

2013 Favourites!

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful week! Just a quick couple updates before I dive into the post, I will be having updates before each post pretty much every post until everything has been put into place for the New Year. Second update is that I will now be posting twice a week (and maybe short, quick posts, in between). Posts will be on Mondays and Thursdays, so you can look for those then. This helps me manage all the things I'm going to be doing here soon as my year is already becoming very hectic!

On with the post!

2013 was filled to the brim with favourite things and I think I obsessed the most over new things this year than any other year before. So here's some of my absolute favourites from 2013!

Favourite Movies

My favourite movie this year would either be Despicable Me 2 or Catching Fire.

Despicable Me 2 was even funnier than the first one and I am in love with it. I would probably watch it every day if I had the time. But every time I watch it, I die laughing.

Catching Fire was probably more of a favourite than Despicable Me 2 just because of the anticipation of it. I had been looking forward to that movie for SO LONG. I went and saw it on premiere night and could not get over the amazing-ness of it. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and the rest of the entire cast was incredible. And they made it funny! I was so glad they made it funny, even if those funny parts weren't necessarily in the book, because Jennifer and Josh do funny so well (specifically together). And the film was better than the first one. I'm definitely purchasing it as soon as it comes on DVD.

Favourite Books

I read a lot of John Green book this year and I would have to say that The Fault In Our Stars was probably my favourite singular book. As far as series go, I fell in love with Divergent. I'm so excited for the movie to come out, and I'd say that I liked the book series better than I like The Hunger Games books. I just loved the story, and although the love bits did seem to be a bit corny in some parts, I thought it was great over all and I'm definitely going to the premiere night of the film.

Favourite Makeup Product

This year I have definitely gotten into makeup a lot more than before. I've really been trying to go outside my comfort zone and try new things. I normally hate to paint my nails or wear lipstick but I've now purchased both nail polish and lipstick and have been forcing myself to wear them in hopes that soon it won't seem so strange. My favourite makeup product this year  would probably have to be New York Colour Foundation. It took me a while before I actually bought foundation because I thought that if I just used concealer it would be fine and that foundation doesn't make that much of a difference. Boy was I wrong! With foundation, I have literally been sporting the "no makeup look" because I've just been wearing foundation and concealer to more casual events and I love it. It's so easy to smear on and it makes my skin look ten times better. Foundation is definitely a must if you're wanting to get into make up and the New York Colour is very affordable and I was able to find a really good colour for my skin tone so I will definitely be continuing to purchase it again this year.

Favourite YouTubers

I go through different phases of my favourite YouTubers throughout the year, but I would have to say that my favourites this year have been the British females. I'm in love with Zoe (Zoella), Louise (SprinkleofGlitter), and Tanya (TanyaBurr) specifically. I have like certain sections of my life I apply them to, though, (that sounds really weird). But for example, Tanya has helped me with makeup and how to apply it, Zoe has helped me with fashion and kind of deciding what I like aside from jeans and sweatshirts. Louise is just kind of my feel good, I want to be your friend, favourite YouTuber.

Favourite Shows

I watched a lot of shows this year. Like a lot. I watched all of Friends, Doctor Who, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, and so. many. others. It's actually pretty pathetic. But my favourite show this year (that's not like a new show) would have to be Doctor Who. I've watched all of the "new generation" Doctors and I am just in love. I also converted my boyfriend to be a whovian and he loves it too. My room is now being taken over by Doctor Who items and I'm loving it.

My favourite new show this year has got to be Orphan Black. I wouldn't recommend it if you're squirmish or if you're sitting with kids under 14, but I love it. Tatiana Maslany is an incredible actress and every single episode her skills impress me more and more with the way she does it. I'm so excited for season 2 to come out in spring of this year, I've been waiting all year for it!

Favourite Moment

I've had a lot of great moments this year. Of course, I've had several not-so-great moments also. I think my favourite moment was this summer at camp. This year was the last year my older cousin (who's like a brother to me and one of my closest friends) was able to go to camp because he is now in college. Every year, the graduating class talks about their favourite moments during previous camp years. It's very nostalgic and bitter sweet. I just remember afterwards (I was balling my eyes out at the end mind you), going up and holding my hand out to shake with my cousin (he's not a hugger) and he said "Oh come on, I can hug you, we're cousins!". It was probably the best night of camp just over all, even though it was the last.

Favourite Clothing Item

My favourite clothing item this year is actually a skirt that I got back in 2012 for my birthday. It was one of those skirts with a thick elastic waist band that you buy at Jo-Ann Fabrics and just sew up the side seem. It's black and has black, velvet polka dots on it and goes great with just about everything. I can wear it with flats, heals, boots, or sandals, as well as pretty much any shirt, whether the shirt is tucked in or not.

Girl Crush(es?)

My biggest girl crush this year would either have to be Jennifer Lawrence (duh) and Zooey Deschannel. Jennifer Lawrence will always be my girl crush, but I pretty much fell in love with Zooey Deschannel this year. I watched every movie with her in it that I could get my hands on and I'm obsessed with New Girl. (I also may or may not have cut and dyed my hair to look like hers.....) She's hilarious, smart, and gorgeous. She's also like a big feminist while still being really cutesie and lady like. She's pretty much everything I want to be.

Male Celebrity Crush

My top male celebrity crush was probably Niall Horan this year (and it will be for the years to come). That man is gorgeous and there is nothing else I can say about him that will even come close to describing his perfection. Here's a visual aid:

Favourite Music

This year has been a random music year. I've listened to so many different genres, I couldn't even tell you what my favourite genre is. I started listening to some Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, etc. and fell in love with them. But I don't think I would be telling the truth if I didn't say that my favourite music this year was One Direction. My most played song on iTunes is Half a Heart by One Direction from their newest album with a total number of 1,273 plays. The next most played song is also One Direction, with over 800 plays. One might say I'm a bit obsessed.

So those were all my favourites for 2013! What were some of your favourites? Who do you think will be a big hit this year? Let me know in the comments below!
